Terms of Service
Last updated: October 9, 2026
Welcome to Guessmint, a free daily coin-guessing game at guessmint.com. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the site. By playing Guessmint, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.
In these Terms, "Guessmint," "we," "us," and "our" mean guessmint.com and the operator of that site. "You" means anyone who visits or plays the game.
1. The Service
Guessmint publishes one coin puzzle per day. You guess which country, empire, city-state, or tribe issued the coin, and roughly when. The game is free, requires no account, and no app installation.
Guessmint is provided for entertainment and general education. Historical attributions, dates, and descriptions are researched in good faith from museum and archive records, but we don't guarantee their accuracy, and nothing on the site should be treated as professional numismatic, historical, or valuation advice.
2. No Accounts; Data Stored on Your Device
Guessmint does not offer accounts and does not ask you to register. Your streaks, statistics, and game progress are stored locally in your own browser (using browser local storage). We never receive this data. If you clear your browser data or switch devices, your streaks and stats will be lost — we can't restore them.
3. Cookies and Local Storage
Guessmint uses browser storage only for functional purposes: remembering your game progress, streaks, and statistics.
We do not use advertising cookies, targeting cookies, or cross-site tracking of any kind. If we use website analytics, it is privacy-respecting, aggregate-level measurement that does not identify individual visitors.
If this ever changes (for example, if the site later carries advertising), these Terms and any accompanying notices will be updated first.
4. Coin Images and Attribution
The coins themselves are historical objects whose designs are in the public domain. The photographs come from museum and archive open-access collections and from Wikimedia Commons, and are used under their stated licenses (public domain, CC0, CC BY, or CC BY-SA). Image credits and source links are available on every puzzle via the "view image credit" disclosure.
Those images remain subject to their own license terms, which are independent of these Terms. If you reuse an image you find on Guessmint, follow the license and attribution requirements stated at its original source.
5. Our Content
Except for third-party images (Section 4), the Guessmint name, site design, game mechanics as implemented, text, and the curated puzzle dataset are our property. You may not copy, scrape, bulk-download, or republish the puzzle dataset, issuer data, or site content, whether manually or by automated means.
You are welcome — encouraged, even — to share your daily results using the built-in share feature, take screenshots of your games, and link to the site.
6. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Access the site by bots, scrapers, or other automated means, except ordinary search-engine indexing and social link previews;
- Attempt to extract future puzzles, bypass the daily rollover, or interfere with the operation of the site;
- Use the site in any unlawful way.
7. Availability and Changes
Guessmint is an early-stage project provided on a best-effort basis. We may change, suspend, or discontinue the game (or any feature of it) at any time, without notice or liability. Puzzles, rules, and scoring may change between days.
8. Disclaimer of Warranties
The site is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or uninterrupted availability.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of (or inability to use) the site. Because the game is free and stores nothing about you on our servers, our total liability for any claim relating to the site is limited to the amount you paid to use it — which is zero.
10. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the current version. Continued use of the site after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
11. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the site will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Delaware.
